Raising Black Russian Terrier Puppies for Families
At Color Splash Kennel, our Black Russian Terrier puppies are raised in the middle of family life, where children, daily adventures, and a little organized chaos are all part of the experience. We focus on health, temperament, early socialization, and lifelong breeder support to help our puppies grow into confident family companions.
Whether you're researching the Black Russian Terrier breed, looking for a Black Russian Terrier puppy in New England, or simply following along with our journey, we're glad you're here.

1. Apply
Tell us about yourself, your family, and what you're looking for in a Black Russian Terrier. We want to learn about your lifestyle, goals, and what you're hoping for in a future companion so we can help guide you through the process.
2. Let's Talk
We'll get to know each other, answer questions, and make sure a Color Splash puppy is the right fit for your family. Choosing a puppy is a long-term commitment, and we believe both families and breeders deserve the opportunity to make an informed decision.
3. Reservation & Updates
Once approved, you'll reserve your place in line and gain access to litter updates, photos, videos, and the Pawcasso Club.
We intentionally keep our breeding program small so we can focus on each puppy and family. As a result, many families begin the process months before a planned litter arrives.
4. Puppies Are Born
The fun begins. Families follow along as the litter grows through photos, videos, milestones, and behind-the-scenes updates. Watching personalities emerge is one of the most exciting parts of the journey.
5. Evaluations & Matching
With help from Sue Burrell and Bella Burton, each puppy is carefully evaluated as they grow. We consider temperament, confidence, energy level, trainability, and overall personality to better understand what makes each puppy unique.
Because your puppy will hopefully be part of your family for many years, we believe thoughtful matching is one of the most important decisions we make. Our goal is to place each puppy in the home where they are most likely to thrive.
6. Go Home Day
Puppies head home with their families along with their health records, registration paperwork, feeding information, favorite resources, and a lifetime of memories already in the making.
It's a day filled with excitement, happy tears, and the beginning of a brand-new chapter.
7. Lifetime Support
The journey doesn't end at pickup.
Whether your puppy is 8 weeks old or 8 years old, we're here to answer questions, celebrate milestones, provide guidance, and support you through life's adventures together.
And if circumstances ever change, regardless of your dog's age or health, every Color Splash dog will always have a place with us. Once a Color Splash puppy, always family. đ
Future Black Russian Terrier Litters
 Fall 2026
We are currently planning a Fall 2026 Black Russian Terrier litter from Zhanna "The Queen" Strouk.
Both parents have completed health testing in accordance with OFA recommendations and have been selected with health, temperament, and structure in mind.
We are now accepting applications from families interested in this litter. Based on the qualities of the parents, we anticipate at least one potential service dog prospect, though all puppies will be individually evaluated before placement.
Puppy evaluations will be conducted with the assistance of Sue Burrell of Burrell Handling to help match each puppy with the right family and lifestyle.

Spring 2027
Trigger's planned Spring 2027 litter is expected to combine health, temperament, and the fun-loving personality she brings to everything she does.
Both parents will have completed health testing in accordance with OFA recommendations and will be carefully selected to complement one another.
If Trigger has taught us anything, it's that life is better near the water. While every puppy is unique, we're fully expecting at least a few happy little water dogs who share their mother's enthusiasm for swimming, adventures, and making a splash wherever they go.
Families interested in this future litter are welcome to join our interest list.

How We Raise Our Black Russian Terrier Puppies
The first eight weeks of a puppy's life are filled with learning.
During this time, our puppies are introduced to new experiences, different environments, everyday household activity, and age-appropriate challenges designed to help build confidence and curiosity. Our puppy-raising program is influenced by the Puppy Culture curriculum and focuses on socialization, problem-solving, and positive early experiences during critical stages of development.
Because our puppies are raised in our home, they grow up surrounded by children, visitors, daily routines, and all the activity that comes with a busy family. Life at Color Splash is rarely quiet, and our puppies have the opportunity to experience the world as active participants rather than observers.
We also spend countless hours getting to know each puppy as an individual.
Our observations are supported by evaluations from Sue Burrell of Burrell Handling, who brings decades of experience in dog training, temperament evaluation, and conformation, having worked with thousands of dogs across a wide variety of breeds. We also work with Bella Burton of B & G Dog Training, a service dog handler of more than 12 years and dog trainer for over 3 years, to gain additional insight into each puppy's temperament, strengths, and potential.
Together, these evaluations help us make thoughtful placement decisions and better understand what makes each puppy unique.
Our goal is simple: to help every puppy leave with a strong foundation and the best possible start in life.
Bringing Home Your Black Russian Terrier Puppy
đž Go-Home Day
Your puppy goes home with health records, registration paperwork, helpful resources, and a support system that doesn't end at pickup.
đĄ A New Adventure Begins
The first few weeks are filled with learning, bonding, and building routines together. Every family and puppy are different, and we're here to help you navigate the transition.
đ Resources When You Need Them
While our journal is available to everyone, one of the greatest benefits of reserving a Color Splash puppy is access to the Pawcasso Club. There, families receive updates, resources, support, and the opportunity to connect with others preparing to welcome a puppy from the same litter.
đ¤ We're Still Here
Questions don't stop after pickup day, and neither does our support. Whether you need guidance, encouragement, or simply someone who understands life with a Black Russian Terrier, we're only a message away.
